Hello, I am Prudence, owner of "Simply Prudence Creations". I take great pride in the quality of the materials and the work I put into every one of the products I create. My mother, Mary Jane Trahan, and Grandmother, Lois Trahan, encouraged and taught me to be very precise in whatever I do. I put in a full day's work at my sewing machine. I personally hand select and coordinate every bit of material that goes into my Catcher Bag. I have a lot of fun mixing and matching the fabrics. I thought that people would like to have a larger selection of fabric coordinated to match their personality or home decor.
I have been sewing for many years now. I am originally from Houma, Louisiana but in the year 2000 I moved to Bangor, Maine to be closer to my Acadian roots. In 2005, I married David and have been enjoying creating costumes like the ones at the bottom of the HOME page. David and I enjoy traveling and visiting all the historical sites in the Maritimes of Canada and the United States.
While attending a sewing class I noticed some of my classmates were using a handmade product to catch their sewing scraps. I wondered what it would be like with different pieces of fabrics and material that I had at home from other projects. So when I got home I sat down and started to work on and improve what was in my vision. The design was unique and multi-use. Originally I made them for my seamstress friends. Sometime after this my son and his friends approached me about using these bags for holding remote controls and their batteries. After experimenting to determine the right mix of materials and size to hold these heavier objects I settled on the design as it is now and thus my "Catcher Bag" was born.
While I started out with a few uses for the "Catcher Bags" my wonderful customers have provided me with absolutely unique functions for them. To this day, either through the Internet or at my shows my friends are always telling me about the new ways they use their "Catcher Bags". It is perfect for the Scrap-bookers out there. You can put a lot of supplies and paper trimmings in them. These "Catcher Bags" can be used for TV remote controls and computer supplies. They fit easily on most couch or chair arms to hold papers or other supplies needed. Some of my customers have purchased them to go over the arm of a walker or wheelchair for an elderly relative or friend for home or hospitalization use. Handy in your automobile to hold trash or your iPods and Cell phones, thus freeing up your cup holder for what it is designed for.
I really have fun making these, but have really enjoyed chatting with my customers about the excitement they wish to share about my "Catcher Bags" which only encourages me to continue making them. You all have been so kind. You have offered good suggestions and kindly advice. For that, I thank you all.
